The division finals have arrived and the Elite Eight battle it out to enter the last rounds!
And of course, Star Trek is battling Star Wars. Doesn’t it always come down to this? This contentious fan battle is as old as the hills, and since I didn’t want it to ultimately define Sci-Fi Madness for 2014, I made sure the two would come head to head before the final round. That being said, I’m hoping for an all-out, no-holds-barred, horrifically ugly fight, with lots of name calling and “yo momma’s” in the comments section.
Since Trek vs. Wars was a fait accompli from the get go, I’ve found it much more interesting to see which other franchises have stayed in thus far. Psycho is a real dark horse to me. I never expected it to get out of Round 2. And though Alien has come far, it didn’t dominate like I expected it would. It squeaked by with only a few votes against the Muppets, though it had a better bite on Jaws. Planet of the Apes has had a much more steady run, so it’ll be interesting to see who ultimately dominates the Create Features division.
The Comic Book Heroes division is another toss-up. The X-Men have held a comfortably uncanny lead against all foes until Iron Man, who almost dethroned them (They pulled ahead by a single vote. How many times do I have to tell you YOUR VOTES COUNT!). Going up against Bats opens up that whole Marvel vs. DC thing. So more entrenched fan ugliness? Bring it!
